So tell me, what IS the Remedy?
Why, ROCK AND ROLL of course! And no better excuse
to party than when "Remedy" stops by. They of course BRING the
party...well that is when they actually GET there that is. Now I have
taken the HWY 10 "shortcut" from just outside Warba over to the new Hwy
169, and it's a LONG 14 miles! I didn't have any idea it was that far
and I thought I had somehow missed a turn or something. Of course I
wasn't LATE for a gig already, and I WAS just out riding my motorcycle
for the sake of riding, so who gives a s$@# if I get lost or not! That
however wasn't the case for our intrepid band. Now the ONE time Joey
gets there early and gets set up before the a last minute and we could
actually GET a sound check in ( I showed up early just for just that
eventuality) but NOOOOO...it seems the new drummer got some of those
long flowing locks in his eyes and actually turned off the hwy 10
shortcut and ended up in...well trouble! ...So AFTER the scenic tour to
Grand Rapids they were LATE...
While I was waiting I made some further improvements to the system by
adding "In the best tradition of Tim the tool man Taylor" ...MORE POWER!
Hoping to be the first area producer to fell a building with sound
alone! Well folks were getting closer! We have excited the building in
such a fashion as to have found all the rattles and loose boards and
panels! One was so loud it sounded like someone was using a jackhammer
on the wall! This happens to be the wall to the "ladies" room and I
cannot believe they didn't complain! I mean every visit to the men's
room elicits a chuckle from me as the rooms become a Hermolts
resonators. That means that the room resonates at a frequency directly
proportional to the size of the room! In the case of the men's room that
is a very LOW frequency and I can tell you from experience that sittin
down will "shake the crap out of you" in short order! chuckle. As Foster
Brooks ( an old comedian whose act revolved around being drunk) was want
to say..."Will everyone please remain seated while the room is in
motion!" Chad also has a new "Happy place" where he likes to reside, and
warned me about changing the "Frequency" as that might alter the
"undulation" of that particular spot. But I digress.(as usual right?)
While waiting for the missing rhythm section, Kuk, Joey and I tried to
dial in a "side wash" for their guitar amps as they good naturedly
bantered back and forth about how they didn't want the other any where
near them. I wasn't thrilled about the side wash Idea but bit my tongue
(when am I going to quit doing that...it HURTS!) and just let them do
their thing. The problem is that when that happens there is this
escalating war of "ME". "More of ME in the monitors please." I often
think of one of my colleagues who has a "quote" line on his posts that
states "More talent in the monitors please".

Legal Outlaw at L.J.'s Club in Remer
Legal Outlaw played at LJ's Club car sports bar on May 9th. They are fantastic! I have been a bartender for over twenty years and they are one of the best classic rock bands I have heard. They even got an applause from our customers at the end of the night. They are not only talented, but quite humorous, too. I would have thought Stevie Ray himself was there a couple times! I recommend this band highly and hopefully we have them again soon.
Trish
Thanks for the email and comments Trish..These guys played at the St. Pat's Jam and the comments were the same. See 'em anywhere you can.
Hollywood

(continued from previous column)
Not that there is any lack of talent in this band, and with the
addition of Mark on drums this group is destined to be one of the best
in the area. The cool thing is Mark and Mike (hmmm M&M...I just realized
that.maybe a good name for a band!) Anyway, the comedy relief is
definitely Joey, who profusely apologized for being the "Drunkest person
at the bar" Saturday night.but who, I can tell you, plays better drunk
than most players do sober! Kuk, the resident hunk of the band has the
ladies all vying for his attention, and they not only undress him with
their eyes, they jump up on stage and rip his shirt off...WHILE HE"S
PLAYING! DAMN Kuk, you give out those beads like their candy...Start
holding out for a little action damnit! I know, I know, but hey, the
ladies KNOW your married, they just wanna KNOW if she's their or not!
GAME ON! I mean WTF. I know your not dead...so...START SEEING
OPPORTUNITIES! I do love my job. It isn't as lucrative as I need it to be
but the benefits are...well, lets just say they keep the blood flowing,
and leave it at that.
The last place Remedy played I take it was Mac's bar in Mt. Iron and
damn if they didn't end up bringing the bartender and her NURSE...with
them to the Firehouse! After she gave the band a clean bill of
health. "Turn your head and cough please.." .Oh I tell you it turned out
to be one hell-of-a-night, and Monica, you're the BOMB. You and our new
favorite nurse made our weekend, and we'd like to invite you to stop in
any time your little hearts desires!
Hey Joey, Nice sweater on the website BTW, What is that? It looks like
argyle socks? Dude we REALLY need to get some new pix for the
website. Kuk looks like he's ready to hurl, Mark is either trying really,
really hard to squeeze one out, or he's just seen KUK pants'ed by his
public and his aspect ratio is clearly visible.. and Mike, well he's
JUST about to tip over from Jag bombs!
All in all it was a really fun weekend as we are moving ever forward
toward audio and visual nirvana, so stop in and check it out folks. Next
weekend is certain to be a real disappointment in the recreational end
of things as fishing season opens. Most of the lakes still have ICE on
them in some way shape or form. Rivers are overflowing their banks, so
the opener should be a real yawner! I think this is unprecedented in the
history of mankind, and is once again a clear indication that global
warming is upon us and that Al Gore is a genius we should really have
elected to the White House as his profound grasp of things that
transcend us mere mortals becomes more and more apparent. At any rate,
since most of Minnesota will be out on a fruitless search for game fish
in a "global warming" environment, we will forgo a band this week in
lieu of "The Outlaw Johnny" and your favorite tunes, and we"ll return
next week with your favorite lineup of bands and fun diversions. After
all, what do we have to look forward to but a night out and our friends
rockin' with the best bands in Minnesota, partying with our friends, and
jamming with the best sound and lights around! See why..
Be well
Gary

Hi Guys, I have visited your website many times and I completely enjoy it's contents and numerous stories. I live in the Gr. Rapids area and I have also had the pleasure of listening to the Bands at various events. I guess that's really all I have for now, I decided to write when I spotted your comment section. Keep up the great work and keep on Rockin!!!
Another,
After all this time, we didn't even know you
existed. We feel that you guys are doing a very good thing for artists
and venues alike. We have been loyal supporters of MidwestBands but they
are going down soon, or have done so already. Kudos to you guys.
Thanks, keep on fighting the good fight!
And another!
This is great! I wish there was a site like this in
my locale. I found your link on the Moondance site, it's awesome! I
played music in the Grand Rapids area 15 yrs ago, and it still is a
hotbed of music activity.
Keep up the unabashed promotion of live
music.
Add me to your mailing list if you have one.
